GET TO KNOW CHIERI
Can you describe the extent of any relevant work experience you might have?
I have yet to have any direct experience within the industry, however, I have been attending seminars and networking through LinkedIn which has provided me with a good understanding of what is required for entering this industry.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
For our group project, 'Keep Cooking', my role was Lead Animator. In order to ensure we all kept a consistent style I would overlook our animators clean ups and deliver any feedback on mistakes with line weight, colouring, or spacing. I was also appointed as Art Director for the opening dream sequence and was in charge of designing and animating the monster for that scene. I researched and developed many concept designs for the monster and after discussing with our director we finally settled on the Dolphin Bird design.
What do you specialise in and what made you choose that specialism?
I specialise in 2D Character Animation. I always found it fun to play with how a character expresses themselves, whether it be through dialogue, facial expressions or body language, being able to animate them and bringing the character to life is what got me into animation.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
2D Character Animator
Which of your student projects are you most proud of, and why?
Keep Cooking'. As it is our last group project, and longest work in progress, we were able to take the time to refine and improve our skills the most with this project and I am very proud to have been able to work on it.
What’s a piece of media (film, game, animation) that changed the way you think about your discipline?
A piece of media that changed the way I think of discipline may have to be Minecraft. Being the sandbox game that it is, I found the freedom to do and create anything. This changed my discipline on motivation with projects.
