Can you describe the extent of any relevant work experience you might have?

As a student I had 2-week work experience at Fireslug Studios, where I ended up staying for almost 3 years. I voluntarily dedicated my time starting out as a 2D Animator using ToonBoom Harmony and Concept Artist for the in-development game “Ashborn” using Adobe Photoshop. Over time, moved up to my last position as Art Lead managing the 2D & 3D Artists, 3D Animators and Technical Artists using the Height app for another game project.

With some members from Fireslug Studios, we formed a team to take part in January 2024’s Global Game Jam with the prompt “Make Me Laugh”, creating a single level pixel game “Hold Your Honk!” where I contributed as the Concept Artist, Illustrator and 2D Pixel Animator using Adobe Photoshop.

I actively enjoy volunteering at indie companies and project start-ups to develop my skills and collaboration skills. Currently, I am assisting as a clean-up animator and colouritst for DreamArc Studios ""World of Dreams"" trailer to aid with receiving funding from sponsors to then work on the bigger production piece ""Aurora""

Working as a Student Ambassador for Escape Studios for almost 2½ years, I assisted young prospective students during the “National Saturday Club” with 3D modelling and texturing in Maya, Blender and Unreal Engine. Additionally as an Escape Studios Content Ambassador, I created video content in line with popular trends and used editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinici Resolve and CapCut to be uploaded across social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram reels. Alongside that, I have photographed on-site events using a DSLR camera.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

After structural change in the team, I joined 2 weeks into production of Shapla as an assistant clean-up animator and Lead Compositor. Also becoming the main colourist, I addressed the backlog of work and added predictability to the production, keeping it back on track for meeting deadlines. Levergaing my fresh perspective to this project, I elevated the visual looks of each shot during compositing, yielding a product that exceeded the concept art's aesthetic.

What do you specialise in and what made you choose that specialism?

"Having dedicated time to pre-vis concept art, storyboarding and animation production, I worked through each stage of my discipline and was now ready to challenge myself further, bringing it all together by independantly teaching myself compositing in Adobe After Effects.

I've always been fascinated by this ""beautifying"" process, and now having learnt the fundamentals I can happily say I've fallen in love with the process and want to commit the next stage of my career to it, helping elevate new animation projects I work on."

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

Junior Compositor

Which of your student projects are you most proud of, and why?

I am most proud of my 3rd year animation project "Shapla". Out of all projects I have worked on, this has been the project I fought hardest on to help bring things to life, pushing past my own expectations and limits. All of that effort has never felt so rewarding after seeing the gorgeous quality of the end result.

What’s a piece of media (film, game, animation) that changed the way you think about your discipline?

WALL-E starts with silence and only has a total of 17 lines in the entire movie. The lack of vocabulary in a traditional sense combined with yet strong visual storytelling changed the way I think about animation at its core, the ability of media to connect with a person. First watching this film as a kid with difficulties understanding language, I was still so invested in the story and captivated emotionally; it had me excited for the future to work on projects that rely heavily on the principles of animation to convey emotions and a story so I could make others feel the magic I do when watching animations.
