Can you describe the extent of any relevant work experience you might have?
I currently haven't had any industry experience but from attending EPC (Everything Procedural Conference) and attending the seminars and workshops there led by leads in the industry. I believe to have a good idea of what is required to enter the industry.
How would you describe your contribution to your group project?
For The Project "kàng" My role was lead Material artist, I was in-charge of all the environmental material work and Material set ups including all the mask and tiling texture creation, both vertex painting application and blueprint setup, engine side adjustments, and decal generation and application. this was in very important aspect of the project to get right as a large majority of the Sifu art style rides on the material work.
What do you specialise in and what made you choose that specialism?
I specialize in material work, specifically tiling, timesheets, and atlases. I love finding the small details in things. The worn out numbers of an overused keypad, the tiny bunches of grass and mosses growing between the cracks of brick patched paths. The buildup of dirt and grunge in the cracks and crevasses of old stone walls. Creating those small stories of time to real bring a world to life is what draws me to materials and texturing.
What would your ideal first role in the industry be?
An entry level environment position with the ability to move into materials and texturing as I develop as an artist and get a better footing in the industry
Which of your student projects are you most proud of, and why?
The project I'm most proud of has to be kàng, doing the stylized art direction pushed me to create interesting work flows and challenged me to be smarter with how my materials in the engine were being used and implemented. I also have to give props to the amazing team I got to be a part of making it one of the most enjoyable projects to work on.
What’s a piece of media (film, game, animation) that changed the way you think about your discipline?
The game that has inspired me the most is Destiny. the incredible worlds of lore and detail are at the top of industry from the environments to the guns and characters. Everything is so polished and inspiring. Its also was my first shooter title I picked up as a kid that wasn't me going round a friends house. It is a loved part of my life and is one of the main reasons I got interested in learning how games are made and doing it myself.
