GET TO KNOW ETHAN

Can you describe the extent of any relevant work experience you might have?

My experience is limited to what I have done in University and I haven't been able to do experience outside of that yet.

How would you describe your contribution to your group project?

In all of the group projects that I have worked on, I have mostly worked as a Prop Artist. One project was 'High on Life' which had taken heavy inspiration from the game with the same name 'High on Life' and the show was based on Rick and Morty. Because of the game and the show, I was able to find a lot of references that helped me with modelling a lot of the props in the scene that you would generally be able to find on the street.

What do you specialise in and what made you choose that specialism?

I have specialised in weapons art because I have a big love of first person and third person shooters like Doom and Halo and I feel that the guns in those games are what makes them so fun and engaging to play for example Doom Eternal has 10 weapons and they all have different ways that they can be used to beat the enemies throughout the game.

What would your ideal first role in the industry be?

Prop Artist

Which of your student projects are you most proud of, and why?

High on Life is my favourite project that I have been a part of mostly because it had turned out really well at the end. My specialism from year 3 I another one of my favourites because I do feel that I have improved my work with that project.

What’s a piece of media (film, game, animation) that changed the way you think about your discipline?

There hasn't been anything specifically that has made me change my discipline, games like Dark Souls may have given me more discipline with not giving up with something that is hard and following through but overall there hasn't been any media that has made me change my discipline in a big way.
